The design of my paddles has undergone significant transformation over the years, yet certain core elements have remained consistent since my initial creations. These include the use of high-quality solid wood, thoughtfully balanced handle designs, and intricate details crafted from materials like Lexan, leather, metals, and contrasting wood. I believe in letting the wood guide my creativity, embracing its natural characteristics to shape each paddle's unique design.

FUNCTION
As I began my journey, my ideas about paddle designs began to transform. I noticed that many wooden paddles were crafted from a single block of wood, resulting in blades and handles that shared the same thickness. In my opinion, this made the handle feel too slender or the blade excessively thick for my liking. This realization highlighted the importance of paddle care!
Many woodworkers tackle this challenge by adding layers of wood to the handle, effectively resolving the functional issue but leaving my creative vision unfulfilled. I resolved to craft most of my paddles from a single solid piece of wood, ensuring the handle was thicker than the blade. This design not only enhances the strength and aesthetic appeal of the paddle but also improves its functionality. Our experience showed that the combination of a thicker handle and a thinner blade offers superior balance, a more attractive appearance, and enhances usability when gripping and swinging the paddle.

QUALITY
The wood truly has a voice, influencing the performance of a paddle through its varying densities across different species. By selecting the ideal wood type, you can create paddles that are compact and heavy, expansive and light, or any combination that aligns with your desired feel and impact. This thoughtful choice allows for a tailored experience that enhances your paddling journey.
The design and quality of the spanking paddle is crucial. It should prioritize safety for the user; for instance, I ensure that there are no sharp edges present, as these could cause skin injuries.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT WOOD
Picking the right piece of wood is important! Here we measure and form the spanking paddle design.

DESIGN THE PADDLE
Now we have to make the magic work in the design of the spanking paddle. It now becomes the form we wish.

SAND & STAIN
Once formed, we have to router the edges, sand it with 60, 120, 200, 400 & 1000 grit sandpaper. Then we stain it!

FINISH
After 8 hours of the stain setting up, we apply letters if needed, then put 3-5 coats of lacquer, polyurethane, or oil based on the desired end look.
